Your beliefs are easy to hack. Sales and marketing people call this "commitment and consistency effects".

A fun way to program your kids.

  • It's refreshing to see an article on this written from a perspective of self-defense, as personally I find the idea of engaging in conversation with someone with the specific goal of 'hacking' their mindset to be utterly abhorrent. I'm not even sure how people can *do* that, as I can't see how to have a balanced interaction predicated on disrespecting the opinion of whomever I'm talking with.
    • I imagine (and I hope it's true), simply *knowing* that this effect exists makes it far easier to recognize when it's happening and therefore avoid its effects.
