Canon SD700 IS: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canonsd700is/

ISO 800 and optical image stabilization good for 2-3 stops.

"Canon had finally pulled something a little bit special out of the hat."
I think the danger of me purchasing a non-Canon has been averted, although I would like to see Canon catch up to Fuji's "Class-leading high ISO performance".
  • Is this yours, or one you’re considering buying? Image stabilisation is something I would really like to have. I know that big sensors are better, but I don’t know what the typical range is for consumer cameras; how does this one’s compare?

Maybe after I pay off my second mortgage, I’ll start thinking about a second camera...
    • No, I purchased an SD450, one of its predecessors in January, so I'm not ready to buy a new one yet. I would probably also want to wait for the price to drop a bit. The resolution of this SD700 is silly high, 2816x2112 (6 megapixels).

If you go to http://www.dpreview.com/ (which rocks), click Buying, then Features Search, then select Format: Ultra Compact, Image stabilization: Yes, and Sensor Photo Detectors: 6 million, it will show you some comparable cameras.

The best part of that site is their in-depth reviews.

Interesting, the SD700 IS is already cheaper (shipped, on pricegrabber.com) than what I paid for my SD450 in January. I do not need a new compact camera dammit :P
