My Oddest Random Encounter

I had one of my more odd random encounters in life. I stepped off of a train in center city, and I heard this big voice from a correspondingly big man behind me:
| Him: | "How ya doin'!" |
| Me: | "I.. don't think I know you." |
| Him: | "Sure you do!" |
| we shook hands |
| Him: | "Are you a warlock or a pagan?" |
| Me: | "Neither." |
| Him: | "Oh, nevermind then." |
Then he walked away. I looked at the conductor, I looked back at him, I looked back at the conductor, I said "Odd.", then walked away. I was too confused to manage to ask the guy to explain. I really wish I had. I'd be interested in any theories you might have.
