Fired my shotgun, finally
Sun Apr 22 01:10:51 EDT 2001
I
finally fired my shotgun for the first time today.
Mossberg 590 (#50665) - 12ga, 8+1 round,
20", heat shield, speed-feed stock. This is the first gun I
purchased, and I've been having great difficulty managing to get it
to a range. Probably the largest problem being that it felt rather
inappropriate to shoot a 12ga shotgun at a piece of paper inside a
building. At least today it was at a piece of paper outside. When I
asked the gun shop guy for 12ga slugs, he handed me what were labeled
"
Federal Hollow
Point Maximum Hi-Shok" - which sounded a bit more intimidating than
I was looking for. I just wanted to shoot the thing, not destroy stuff.
Okay, maybe just a little. Anyway, I am proud to say, it did not kick
my ass. I bought 2 boxes (5 rounds each), and fired maybe a box myself.
Was much fun.
There were more people at the
Nockamixon
range today than the last time we went, but there was still a table
open, and it was not crowded enough to be inconvenient.
