Dinner with this chick.

Whether or not any of you care, I feel like I owe you a report on how
dinner w/ Stacey went on Wednesday, since I'd told you all about the
situation up until shortly before then.
Where I left off, we were supposed to meet at fluid last Sunday, and she
totally stood me up.
Her excuse was mothers day.
She asked if I wanted to grab dinner with her on Wednesday. I figured it
wasn't far out of my way, and since I was going to meet her where she
worked, she was less likely to get away this time.
I met her. She was there. I was early. I hung out on south street for a
while. Found a poster of a really awesome picture that I'd wanted for a
long time of this little girl standing on a really tall building blowing
bubbles, and this stone gargoyle leaping off the building to catch a
bubble. Didn't buy it then because I didn't want to carry it around.
[update 2005-12-28: The poster is Michael Parkes' PO-114 Gargoyles oilpainting on wood 7 5x60cm (c) 1997 Michael Parkes / STELTMAN Galleries, www.steltman.com]
I got back. We ran into friends of hers continuously. Apparently this is
very normal for her. We visited her fiance half a block away at work. A
friend of mine said that must have been surreal. I guess it was.
Reality does tend to be a bit misshapen. We went to her house, where she
lives w/ her fiance & a roommate. She showed me how she's been making
jewelry with powertools recently. She seemed to be very into it. I swear
she had all the bits laid out specifically to demonstrate the process to
me.
Me, her, and her roommate went & grabbed food from some nearby middle
eastern place that I think started with an "a", and took it back to her
place. While we were waiting for our orders to get cooked, I ran across
the street and grabbed that awesome poster. It's on my wall. I'm happy
about this. I had chunks of lamb & rabbit food stuffed in a pita with
strange gooie stuff. It was good, and messy.
Friends of theirs showed up gradually & continuously. When I left I guess
there were 5 more people. We drank, talked, and watched TV, switching
back and forth between something about Jesus, and the last episode of
90210. Talk about surreal.
Found out she's got pretty bad
scoliosis, with metal rods supporting her
spine, which comes with a nice prescription for pain killers.
Talked to one of her friends about computers and programming. It was an
odd conversation.
Stacey seems to want my career. If a "how to get a career like
mine" section shows up on my web page some day, that'd be why.
Stacey dyed her hair from bright red to black (so that she could let it
heal.. ?), and tried to argue with me that her previous shade of red was
not obnoxious but, in fact, soothing to the eye. Heh.
I didn't get to help.
People were getting ready to head off to club shampoo, and my last train
home was about to happen. I left.
Stacey behaved towards me more like how I would expect a typical engaged
female friend to. As opposed to Sunday 2 weeks ago, which I figure was a
result of pain killers, alcohol, and being in the middle of a temporary
breakup with her fiance.
